Masters swimming is for EVERYONE

Board Meeting Minutes

SWIM COMMITTEE MEETING: July  24, 2008

Present were: Ray, Nancy, Teta, John, Liz, Stan, Henry, Phil, and
Stephen

I. MINUTES: were read, corrected and approved.

II. TREASURER'S REPORT:
1. We have about 100-110 per month. The City has started paying us
our money in three weeks instead of six weeks.
2. Cheri's policy is to pro-rate all swimmers when they sign up late.
Because of the benefit we get from the City handling our signing in
and paying, we decided not to try to change this.
3. Stephen has a new job that requires more hours. Since he does most
of the paper work for us, he would like us to find a replacement for
him by January. We should try to find a new treasurer from the team as
we can not afford to hire professionals to do this.

III. MEMBERSHIP:
1 We have 77 members who have paid their dues

IV.  TAHOE MEET:
1.  There were 150 teams who swam. We had 5 teams of Marlins
plus some Marlins swimming with other teams. The weather and water
temperature were very good. Next year Ray would like to put together a
team of our fastest swimmers to try to win.

V.  COACH'S REIMBURSEMENT POLICY:
1.  We voted to give the Coach $25 per diem plus his cost of gas and motel.

VI.  2009 CALENDAR BIDS:
1. Soup Dinner: Carolyn Banda will make a reservation at the Senior  Center for Saturday, Jan. 17th.
2. Joel will be the Parkside Swim Director.
3. September meet at Joinville: There were several suggestions for
the meet. If we hold it, it should be a regular meet. Julie would co-
direct it. We could have a meet of medium size teams, giving them a
chance of winning. We could hold a clinic of novice participants in a
meet and culminate this into a meet with them. A committee of Ray,
Julie, Henry, and Phil will meet to decide the best choice.

VII.  PIZZA NIGHT:
1. Since Windy City is expensive, it was decided to change
place and date to Parkside Round Table Pizza on the third Wednesday of
each month. This won't happen until Sept. so people will be aware of
the change.

Next meeting: Saturday, August 24, 10:30am.
